About Delia Butler
For nearly 20 years Delia worked for one of the Big 4 accountancy firms in London and Manchester, gaining invaluable insight into what makes businesses successful - from one-man bands to the some of the largest companies in the world, from bakeries and cardboard manufacturers to banks and insurance companies.
Most of Delia’s time was spent working with these businesses on a daily basis – assessing their systems and business processes, reviewing the effectiveness of their key controls and cashflow management and assessing the capabilities of the management team to lead and manage their businesses. She was also involved in a wide range of corporate finance activities for her client base including due diligence on acquisitions, restructuring and liquidity reviews and developed a particular specialism in supporting management buyout teams.
She also developed excellent people and project management skills through managing and coaching large teams of staff on complex and often time restricted assignments – winning a number of client service awards in the process. She understands firsthand how to deal with the problems of staff retention, staff performance and recruitment and now running her own business Delia appreciates the importance of having the right support available at the right time.
It was really important to Delia when making the decision to break away from corporate life to be able to use her wide-ranging experience in an environment which was dynamic and interesting but which enabled her to maintain a work-life balance whilst maintaining a challenging and rewarding career with the support an effective franchise model, and a peer group to share ideas and concerns, could give.
Delia now seeks to provide that same level of support to the businesses she works with in the SME market - Delia enjoys working with business owners who are switched on to improving the performance of their companies. The key to making change is first making that commitment to change followed up by accountability – we are all good at making lists of things to do but are they the right thing to do and carrying them through, in a timescale which can really make an impact, is the tricky bit. But change can also only take place if the people in the business move forward at the same time.
To ensure that change results in the improvements desired by the business owner, Delia uses her professional coaching skills coupled with Ology’s proven tools and structured approach to drive both the business and team forward at the same time.
